Letter from Lowell Fryman, DAMA-RMC President
Welcome to the Rocky Mountain Chapter of DAMA-International.
We have a number of changes in
2010 that we feel will add value to our membership and the practice of data
management in the Colorado area.
First, our meeting times are
changed to the afternoons, 12:30 PM to 3:30PM, to help members "beat
the traffic challenge".
Second, we will be sponsoring
the new ICCP CDMP certification Beta exam. We plan on holding the exam in
April and again in June. We are also looking at options for pre-certification
review classes. Additional information on the Beta Exam is enclosed. This
certification exam, if passed, can be converted into a CDMP certification
(just pay for it) and may also help you achieve CBIP certification, for
those that are interested.
Third, we are planning to sponsor
a DAMA Day of free or low cost educational seminars for our November 11th
meeting. Please note this is a data change from our original posting. This
will be a one day event. I would like to hear from you about what programs
you would like, who you would like to speak, and which vendors you would
like to see. We will keep you informed of the specific agenda as it develops.
At our March 11th meeting, we
were very pleased to have Len Silverston as our featured speaker. Len presented
his very new discussion on "Mastering the human side of Data Integration".
We had a full room and a very lively discussion. Len is a DAMA-RMC member
and has been a contributor and supporter of DAMA International for many
years. He is the winner of the DAMA International Professional Achievement
Award for 2004 and the DAMA International Community Award for 2006. Most
of us know Len from his development of and best-selling books on the "Universal
Data Models". In 2009, he co-authored and published his latest work,
"The Data Model Resource Book, Volume 3, Universal Patterns for Data
Modeling". Please refer to Len's presentation on our web site, www.dama-rmc.org
Again, please note the change
in meeting time, 12:30PM to 3:30PM. I hope to see you on May 13th. We are
looking to start right at 12:30 so we have time for the full agenda.
If you are looking for new opportunities
(upper right corner is a Career Center link), please look at our job postings,
www.dama-rmc.org, as well as the new
DAMA-I web site for job openings. It was announced that over 30,000 Data
Warehousing jobs could be found through the international web site (www.dama.org
).
